New Chalkboard by Sarah Kim
It's been a long time since we had a new chalkboard on our walls, and we were so thrilled to have Sarah Kim come by, Sarah who's been with us for a while, and who actually did our first chalkboard at our old Carlaw location. Sarah also teaches our Modern Calligraphy classes.
Traveler's Notebook Meet-Up: Saturday, February 23rd 2-4 pm
We've been selling Traveler's Notebooks for as long as we've been open, and it's always been a big part of our shop. I still remember when we first opened and didn't carry all of their accessories, and slowly over time, carrying more and more. It fits so perfectly within our shop culture of things that will stay with you and serve you for years, changing and adjusting as you need it to.
A Year of Wonder and Pens
Between all the festivities of Christmas and then swooping into the new year, this little pocket of hang time is where we sometimes get the chance to look back and look ahead.
Merry Christmas
We made it! Staggering to the finish line, but here we are - shops closed, Christmas gifts under the trees.
Another Christmas Tree Adventure
And so off we went, to the same Prestonvale Farm we went to previously. While we don't actually know too much about the folks that run this farm, we do go back year after year, and always enjoy the adventure.
December Holiday Hours
It's that time of year! It seemed to have come upon us surprisingly quickly, which is something I'm always a bit hesitant to admit because it's not like I wasn't aware of the days on the calendar ticking by, and I did indeed have a conversation with Jon about what our extended hours would be, and then didn't I actually personally schedule in all the staff for our increased hours?
Christmas Card Party: Thursday, December 6th
We tend to cancel our Letter Writing Club for December because it's so busy in the shop, which is always a little sad because if December isn't a good time to send a few cards in the mail, when is.
Caleb and a Pencil Meet
The other weekend we came into some unexpected free time, and so we went off to our favourite dim sum place uptown which turned out to be closed for renovations for two months (!).
Staff Picks and a Fountain Pen Quiz Amongst Friends
Last week I got to relive my teacher days by handing out a test to the staff. We did another staff show and tell, with everyone bringing in a pen and ink, but instead of just a regular go around and sharing, we filled in a little questionnaire, using our pen and ink of choice.
