Our monthly Letter Writing Club is coming up! It's this Thursday evening. It sort of snuck up on me, but in a nice way, like a forgotten coffee date with a friend. Our last Thursday evening meet in May was a bit smaller, but I think I liked it a bit more intimate - there was more time to chat and take it easy.
Being a snail mail lover, of course whenever we go anywhere, I like to send postcards.
I got my first pen pal probably when I was around 8 or 9, and have been writing letters intermittently ever since then. Over the last few years, though, I've become much more interested in letter writing and the art of letter writing, and the whole idea of corresponding with people on a slower and richer level.
Way back a million years, Jon and I were young and in love and on different continents, pining after each other. I was in Madagascar, and Jon was in Canada, and then he left for a stint to travel through Asia.
I'm sharing this both because it's lovely, but also because our first Letter Writing Club of 2016 is coming up this Sunday, January 10th, and I couldn't be more excited, and not just because I'm, you know, just a bit backed up on my own letters - it'll be nice to see everyone again, and catch up about the holidays and everything else that's happening!
As someone who loves everything about sending out snail mail (writing letters, finding stamps, addressing envelopes, going to the post office or mailbox...), Christmas is like... well, Christmas.
With all the excitement of the Scriptus Toronto Pen Show, I think I needed a week or maybe two weeks to recover, but there's no rest for the weary! This past weekend was the Toronto National Postage Stamp Show.
Sometimes letter writing inspiration strikes out of the blue: it's your best friend's birthday!
