Moving Excitement: Rohrer & Klingner Giveaway
It's been a quiet few days here on the blog, mostly due to a series of unfortunate events, culminating in a horrific accident with a stroller and the camera. I would post a photo, but (aside from having no camera but my phone...) the pictures would make you gasp and cringe. The good news is that we have a giveaway here for you! We're trying to get the word out that we are moving, so please share with any pen friends you have! Stay tuned; we've got a few more fun surprises ahead. One of the first line of inks I ever used, and also one of the first lines we brought into the shop when we first started this business is Rohrer & Klingner. It's a rainbow of easy to clean, easy to write with inks (although pay a little extra mind for Salix + Scabiosa, iron galls!), and to this day, has some of my favourite inks. If I had to choose my favourite, which is a bit like asking a mother to choose her favourite child (for me, a tie between the baby and Super), I would have to say I am partial to Salix, Konigsblau, Leipziger Schwarz, Blu Mare, Scabiosa, and, of course, Alt-Gold grun. Interestingly, I have never tried Sepia, but it's on my list.
If you've had a hard time deciding which Rohrer & Klingner ink to try next, you're in luck! We're giving away a complete set - 18 inks - to add to your collection. You can tell me how you like the Sepia. To enter, leave a comment below! It'll be hard to resist, but please only enter once :) Canadian friends only. Contest closes 11:59 PM EST on March 24th, 2015. Winner announced March 25th, 2015. For an extra chance to win, consider visiting us on Instagram! We're giving away a complete set of inks here on the blog, and another set on Instagram.

I started using fountain pens a while ago but have never tried any Rohrer & Klingner ink. I’ve never tried iron gall ink either. Thanks for making this giveaway available – and in Canada too!

Very exciting. I hope the move goes well.
I haven’t tried Rohrer & Klingner, yet, but I have Verdigris, Alt-Goldgrun and Eisen-Gallus-Tinte Sali on my wishlist.

I’ve only tried a sample of Alt Goldgrun, and it’s a beautiful colour for journalling! I’ve heard the iron gall inks work great on cheaper paper, so I’m kinda interested in them as well.
Thanks for this giveaway, and good luck on moving!

I have been wanting to try Cassia. The sample looks blue on your site (on my monitor anyway) but I think it is a nice purple.

Hmm. I have Konigsblau which is a nice pure blue, although it’s almost blue-black in certain pens. I’m planning to try Alt-Goldgrun and the iron gall inks.

My favourite so far is the Alt-Gold Gren. Such a great, strange green. Anyhow, I would love a chance to try them all! Will miss you in the west end, but will definitely treck east when you do. Best of luck!

It’s a shame that the East end of Toronto is even further from me than downtown, but a new exciting location for you guys is really cool. I can’t say I’ve tried out any of the R&K inks, but just looking at them, Fernambruk and Blu Mare look really cool. Thanks for doing such an awesome giveaway!
Good luck with the move and lift with your legs! :)

Oh what the heck — I’ll throw my name in the hat! Purely in the interest of helping you with the amount of ink you’ll have to move to the new store, of course…selfish altruism is alive and well! Ha ha. I like the Alt Goldgrun very much, it has a nice depth to it. And the Verdigris is an interesting shade, too. It would be fun to have a complete set, that’s for sure.
Ben Stolz (@BenStolz) said:
I have Scabiosa and Leipziger Schwarz. I would relish having the other colors, too!

Wow, great contest…. would love to add these to my ink cabinet !! Can’t wait to see your new store

I agree that Scabiosa can be difficult to clean! I made the mistake of leaving it in my Metropolitan too long and it was nearly impossible to clean. This would be awesome to add to my collection by the way! :)

My favourite Rohrer & Klingner ink is Fernambuk.
Good luck moving … looks like you have lots of pen friends you can call when you need help with the heavy lifting!

Rohrer & Klingner’s Leipziger Schwarz was one of the very first fountain pen inks I used. I actually picked it up because I adored the bottle, but after all this time, I still think it writes beautifully.
I would love to try out their other colours too (because sometimes, samples aren’t enough)! It would make my dull hours of studying a lot brighter.
Anyway, good luck to everyone participating!
Ainar Monaghan said:
I’d be Rohrin’ and Klingin’ to that hoard. :P

How exciting! I’d love the chance to try them out.
Can’t wait to visit at your new location :)
Brian K. said:
I’m enjoying the Alt-Gold grun ink very much, and I’m glad that I bought it. I have a couple of other light green inks (Herbin Vert Olive, Vert Pre), but this R&K has more depth and it is easier to read than those others. I’ve wanted to try a couple of their other shades for some time now; the value is very good, especially for the size of the bottles.
Good luck with your move to your new location — I’ll miss dropping in at the Dundas West location, but I’ll find you once you move to Leslieville.
And, I hope everything is OK with the stroller situation, and that there were no injuries. All the best to you, Liz & John, and thanks for stocking so many terrific pens and inks.
