Camping in the fall is my favourite because you mostly avoid the mosquitoes, although even in cold weather they find their way to you, those miscreants and ruiners of a good time. Aside from the mosquitoes, in many ways, camping in the fall is nice because you can huddle around the campfire with a hot drink, or not feel quite as grungy and sweaty after several days without a shower.

One unexpected hobby that I’ve taken up over the course of the pandemic has been making masks. I’ve made so many of them I’ve lost count, and I’ve also acquired a bunch of fabric in the process, perhaps slightly more fabric than I actually need.

Another very exciting day around here! We are full of those, even if most days the excitement is extremely unpleasant and shocking news from our accountant, or the roof leak that’s been “fixed” several times turning into a small gush, or discovering that there is indeed a maximum number of tabs your browser will let you open at a time and that the number is 500 and that you’ve reached it, or the cat throwing up.

We are going camping tomorrow, and we are in a state of chaos. Every time we go camping, I say to myself that we’re going to clean the whole house before we go so we can return home from the wilderness to all of the glorious amenities of modern civilization, and yet every time we go it’s as though we’re trailing various condiment bottles and items of clothing behind us like a Richard Scarry adventure.

We’ve now had Private Reserve ink for some time, and it’s been fun to see which ones have been favourites around here. In a previous post, I had the most popular ones, but in a second shipment from Private Reserve, we got some lovely brown inks, and so here I am, back again. Perfect for fall, my favourite season, my favourite colours.

Things are coming along here in the studio shop. These updates on the studio shop all sound the same: slowly getting there, but nothing actual to update.

 

Over a year ago now we shared the very exciting announcement that we were going to be a Traveler’s Company Partner Shop, which means we are now part of their community of special retailers who carry some special edition items. They are, understandably, pretty big on encouraging people to travel out and about into the world and visit different places, visit their Partner Shops, see what interesting flavours each shop has. 

Just the usual going on here these days.

Once they had a book in hand, who knew when they would put it down again? They skimmed through them, allowing passages to catch them like fishing nets and carry them down into the depths of their sea.

 

I have a lot of balls in the air right now, it feels like, along with the normal stuff, shipments coming in and out, newsletter going out on Tuesday, music practice, laundry, ordering groceries online. This makes it seem like I don’t do much, and sometimes that’s not far from the truth. I’ve been extremely prolific in letter writing, that most important and productive of tasks. We are vaguely unlockdowning, and it’s a bit chaotic. The shops have reopened, which feels like one massive task done. Reopened! Check.
