Every year we’ve brought Caleb, and after she was born, Naomi, to the pen show. It’s always been hairy, and I feel like it’s probably going to get hairier before it gets...less hairy. Hairless? In any case, I’m looking forward to the day when I can send Caleb to go pick up lunch, bumping my tasks down the totem pole, but too soon after that will likely mean Caleb off in the real world and perhaps too busy to come back home for the pen show, so I guess I should embrace the hairiness while I’ve got it.
We survived the show! Of course we did. But it was a fabulous show and a great day. It all seems a blur, not least reason of which is because I’ve delayed now almost two weeks to getting started on this.
The Toronto Pen Show, Scriptus, is taking place this Sunday, October 27th at the Toronto Reference Library, at Yonge and Bloor. As always, admission is free, but you can support the show by participating in the raffle. The show accepts donations of prizes, and you can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a prize of your choosing. This year we’ve donated anEdison Pearlette in Sonoran Sunset.
With the baby arriving a week and a half before the show, we were down to the wire in preparing. We'd done it just the once before, but there were a lot of things I couldn't quite remember how we'd done last year, and there were a number of things that were possibly not going to make it.
It's that time of year again! Leaves and hot tea and books and Scriptus, our favourite annual meeting of fountain pen enthusiasts. It's a one day pen show, where retailers like us, vintage pen restorers and repairers, and other stationery related folks all gather together and show off some analogue tools.
Scriptus, the Toronto Pen Show, which is now in its third year of its most recent incarnation, was this past Sunday, and it was one crazy day. Jon and I (and Caleb) attended the last two years as people looking to browse and buy pens and say hello to kindred pen spirits, but this was our first year as exhibitors.
Scriptus, the Toronto Pen Show, is coming up this Sunday, October 30th, and we couldn't be more excited! The pen show is taking place at the Toronto Reference Library from 10am to 4pm, and we're going to be there all day long!
There's a chill in the air and grey skies and hot tea and and pumpkins everywhere, and Hallowe'en is almost upon us. We're sometimes a bit behind or ahead of the curve when it comes to seasonal traditions, but maybe because of Caleb's already unconventional-enough upbringing, we're trying our best to stay with the crowd.
