A month ago (a month ago!) we were so lucky to have The Superior Labor visit us here in Toronto. An unbelievable dream five years in the making, briefly interrupted by Covid, but rising again.

I never would’ve imagined, from our earliest days at 906 Dundas West, our first tiny shop (which is now a lawyer’s office—do they need some fountain pens or Rhodia pads?), carrying their pen roll, our very first item from them, that they’d now be in Toronto, with their tools and stamps and brushes for us all.

In case you couldn’t make it, here are some pictures from some of the workshops.

And we even got these special aprons made for our team, and everyone got to come in and design and paint their own aprons. I wondered a bit about what will happen as, naturally, the team grows and changes, people coming and going, and I’ve realized that you have to embrace the season of life you’re currently in, and each season will bring with it its own memories and opportunities and souvenirs. We’ll figure it out as we go, for as long as we’ve got.

I personally missed the workshops, being still in Taiwan with the kids, which was terrible and awful but actually I didn’t think too much about it because I was busy trying to make sure we all made it onto the plane. And everything turned out wonderful! It was so nice to see everyone’s photos and stories and emails and I’m so tremendously grateful to have been a tiny part of this event from afar.

And maybe now, in hindsight, a month later, it doesn’t seem so terrible to have missed the workshops because we did make it back to hang out with the TSL family and show them around Toronto a bit. Part 2 is coming soon.
