Dominant Industry Ginger Chicken and Tuna Grey with a Little Shimmer
Launched at Scriptus, and available in limited quantities, is a shimmer version of our two original Dominant Industry exclusive inks, Ginger Chicken and Tuna Grey. I loved how the originals turned out, and we have them available regularly in the shop, even if they’re sometimes in and out of stock.
While these are (I think) relatively usable inks, they’re inspired by our two shop cats, which adds a little extra magic to them.
But for the pen show, and for the fall, and for the love of our two cats, we released a shimmer version of these two inks. Because shimmer inks are not always as popular, and because of high production quantities needed, we have just this one batch of inks for now, and we don’t plan on having them as generally in stock inks.
Of course if there’s interest in the future, we would be happy to get another batch in some time down the line, but if this is it for these sparkling beauties, I will take what I can get.
In any case, here is a closer look at the two new inks.
Because of the universe needs alignment, I had to ink them up with our two previous Franklin-Christoph exclusives, which, of course, match our two cats as well. We actually got the grey M20 in before we had Tuna! We got this one when we were at our old location, on Carlaw, when all we had was a chicken. And it was foretold…

In any case, these are our two new inks, for here as long as they’ll stick around. I used to be more precious about these special edition inks, and I have a particular connection to this special edition duo, but I’ve grown to appreciate that sometimes inks or special editions represent a certain season of life that I’m grateful to have experienced. Shimmer inks don’t get a ton of use in my pens, so I suspect these two bottles will last a little longer, maybe being broken out for Christmas or some other special occasion.
It’s a waffling balance, Sophie’s choice: a pen is a non-consumable, and barring any unfortunate circumstances, when you get one to commemorate a trip or a momentous occasion or just a moment in time, it’s a keepsake you’ll have forever. But a journal or notebook, a bottle of ink, a wood-case pencil, it only lasts so long, and that’s part of its magic, too.
