Pilot Metropolitan - Retro Pop - Turquoise

I love my three metros. The fine nib writes well on regular school-quality paper, without much feathering, regardless of ink type. I like the smoothness of the medium nib, and the finer line it puts out than Western mediums. The aluminum body adds a nice weight to the pen, and the colours are cheerful. I have better pens, but these are good workhorse pens that you can take around with you and not be afraid to lose (or keep in your classroom for marking).

I got not one, but five Pilot Metropolitan a while back because I liked the colours and designs, and because it's a good price to buy five. I got different nibs for each one of them and have tested them with a variety of J. Herbin inks (the only inks I use).
The fine nib is too fine and scratches the paper
The medium nib is too broad and doesn't do any fine lines even if I wanted
The 1.1mm nib leaks all over

I use a converter to fill them with ink, and the converter never really gets full.
It's a terrible pen and for the same price you get the Noodler's Ahab which is a million times better.

I've been using this as one of my everyday pens. I love the cast my, it is crazy ok to the touch and smooth. I find I have to hold this pen in a more vertical position than I'm used to, but the little bs are smooth and fine. No blotching lot leaks after a year of use. The nib seems to be holding up well.

I own several Metropolitans and this model (Retro Turquoise) is the first I bought (with a fine nib.) I love this pen - it has a wonderful smooth nib and love this metal body. I also like the factor that it comes with a converter whereas most pens in this price range don't include a convertor. (It's a squeeze convertor; if you want a piston convertor, you have to pay $8.50 for a Pilot Con 40).
