Pilot Fountain Pen Kakuno - Blue

Kakuno means "to write" in Japanese, making this is a great beginner fountain pen. The thick barrel with a modest triangular grip make the pen incredibly ergonomic. The snap cap is solid and will not break away in a bag or pocket. The pen features a cute smiley face on the nib, which will smile at you whenever you are writing!

Features:

•Iridium tipped steel nib made in house by Pilot.
•Lightweight plastic barrel with a triangular ergonomic grip.
•Snap-cap.

Includes one proprietary Pilot black ink cartridge; Pilot converter for use with bottled ink can be purchased separately here.

Dimensions:
L: 13.1cm capped; 12.7cm uncapped; 15.9cm posted

Nice writing pen at a great price

I've been using both a Kakuno and a Pilot Metropolitan (among others), and the writing quality and ease of use are pretty much the same, an accomplishment when the Metropolitan costs almost twice as much. My only issue with the Kakuno - a minor one - is that, after many months of use, the cap developed a crack. I wrapped it with tape and the pen is still going strong. I've recommended it to others more than once.

Nib on the Pilot Kakuno

I just bought two these pens to carry around without fear of losing them. I bought both with "F" nibs and should have bought "M". The fine is way TOO fine. One of the inks I'm using is "Barkley's Blue Teal" from Organics Studio and the fine nib does not lay down enough sink to discern the nuances of the colour. Also, the fine nib on one of the pens is more fine than the other (inconsistent). I'm not too happy with the pens notwithstanding my desire for a 'cheap' pen. Maybe I should have bought something better?

Great little pen

I love the Kakuno! It writes very smoothly and is very comfortable to hold. It's my least expensive pen, but one of my favourites!
