Lovely light brown

It’s a lovely shade of brown, similar to Diamine Ochre and P.W. Akkernan SBRE Brown, but less orange, and in the lightest tones it’s similar to Diamine Bach of the music collection. Pilot Iroshizuku Tsukushi is much redder.

I find that this ink has a dry flow. I haven’t seen any sheen, only a dark black-brown outline at the edge where ink pools in very saturated areas. The ink itself is not highly saturated during normal writing. I get some shading in wider wet nibs.

Dries fairly quickly on absorbent paper, but to a flat finish on all papers I’ve used. I’ve seen no feathering, no bleedthrough, minimal ghosting on thinner paper; I’ve experienced a couple of hard starts, skips and nib dry out on a few papers. Despite it not being very saturated, I was able to achieve a dark readable line with my Sailor H-EF with no effort.

It’s a nice colour and I enjoy it most in my Sailor 21 kt H-B on white TR 52 gsm and Maruman Mnemosyne.
