I bought Sailor Shikiori Kin-Mokusei and Sailor Jentle Apricot to see how similar they were.
Kin-Mokusei feels a smidgen more lubricated than Apricot, which in turn is more saturated. Once dry, I can’t tell them apart. They both have silvery sheen and are both readable in wet nibs, no matter the nib widths: Kin-Mokusei worked flawlessly in all my Sailor 1911 L and S pens, with all nib sizes from H-EF to H-B, except for one: my 1911S 21kt H-M, which is a dry writer. I recommend using Kin-Mokusei in pens with a generous flow. I’ve observed no feathering or bleedthrough, and practically no ghosting during normal writing on TR paper. I might buy a pack of cartridges to use in a broad nib for corrections and markup.
This is a beautiful colour that has very nice shading and is exceptionally well-behaved. This ink finds the rare sweet spot for orange and yellow inks where it is bright and vibrant, but not so much that it's hard on the eyes. Highly recommended!
I love this ink. I love the orange colour and it has beautiful shading on it. I originally got an ink of this sample and the first time I got used it I knew I had to grab a full bottle of it. If you are a fan of brighter oranges than I think you will enjoy this ink!
