Beautiful Lighter Blue

I purchased this ink to fill a gap I had in my blue inks, which were all dark or blue-black inks. It's a great compliment to the Verdigris' darker blue color. It does seem to write a little drier than the other R&K ink's I've used but it hasn't caused any issues with extended writing sessions.

Seems I'm Mr. Buzz Kill again ...

... because I can't say I enjoyed writing with this ink. It's one of the driest inks I've ever used. I tried it out in my Platinum Preppy with a medium nib; normally it writes as smooth as silk and lets the ink flow generously, but with this stuff it was like scratching the paper with a nail. No lubrication at all. Had a similar exsperience a few months ago with the R&K iron gall Salix. The colour doesn't really match what you see on the screen either. One of the previous reviewers makes that point as well, but then he compares it to Iroshizuku Kon-peki. Yeah, no. He only *wishes* it were like Kon-peki (so do I, for that matter), which is my favourite blue ink out of all the blues I've tried. This stuff is considerably darker.

I'm sure not everyone's had this experience, and I know not all R&K inks are like this, but I wouldn't ink up with Blau Permanent again.

great ink

I really like this ink. It is one of the those inks can work good on both good and bad paper. I happen to need to use the ink on some cheap paper. It works well. I have a western fine nib pen which I always found it was too wet to my taste. With this ink, it is definitely less wet, somehow, right size of line to my taste. I am really happy about it.

Very Nice All Round Ink

This is a great blue ink. The ink sample photo on this website is not very colour accurate (my monitor is calibrated for colour) so expect it to be a bit different. The photo makes it look like a cobalt blue, but it's not. It actually has a small hint of blue green added to the blue but it is clearly predominantly a blue ink and far from a turquoise. The closest comparison I can make is the Japanese kon-peki iro shizuku ink which I really love. The kon-peki dries a bit darker but the hues have a good deal of resemblance (not exact). On better quality paper, the ink is really nice and it shows variations in light/dark as it dries. It's a great blue ink good for business or personal writing. On cheap notepad or bond paper it's not the same. It's neither wet nor dry ... about right for me. I think it is a great ink for overall use for a reasonable price.
