Sleek, weighted and writes like there isn't enough o's in smooth.

First thing, is it's heavy and I love that, and can understand why men more than women would gravitate to it. Feels like it should be much more expensive and thank goodness it isn't. I've had some Hero (read cheap) fountain pens, and bought a Cross Adventura on sale at Staples which was cartridge based. Nice introductions but it's like you've stepped up another degree of magnitude with the Pilot Metropolitan. It's like going from using a cheap keyboard to a mechanical keyboard. Difference is night and day. Of course I see those more expensive pens and maybe one day, but I'm truly thrilled to use the Metropolitan and keep filling ink using the bladder. I purchased the fine nib and it really is fine. I've found medium nibs to produce too thick a line but know that it's not for everyone. It's like it was made for me. Shipping was super fast too! One of the lowest prices in Canada as well, I'll be buying more, I'm looking at you, inks!

Writes like a dream for beginners

The Pilot Metropolitan is my first fountain pen and a great starter for people whose writing tends to be finer. Glides smooth with a nice weight for hours of note-taking in class. Great price, great writing experience, and the first of (probably) many pens to come!

Fine nib - perfectly smooth

The aluminum body feels solid without being heavy. The nib glides nicely at a variety of angles. I'm super happy with the fine nib as an alternative to the Lamy Safari - I love how the Lamy feels and writes, but some papers need a finer line and this pen is perfect.

Love the pen and WonderPens!

This is a perfect beginner fountain pen! It is a reasonable price, easy to refill the ink, and writes very smoothly. The fine nib is the perfect size, the pen itself is a nice weight and the cap has a satisfying click when you put it on. The people at WonderPens are phenomenal! A hand-written note came with the pen, the pen came in a timely fashion, and was a wonderful experience, I will be purchasing all my specialty pens from here! Overall, an incredible pen and experience!

Pilot Metropolitan -Plain Black with Fine nib

This is my first fountain pen and it's a phenomenal beginner fountain pen. Smooth writing, durable thus far, hefty enough in the hand to feel solid but light enough not to make your hand cramp after a long writing session. It has performed well on various papers including regular notebook paper when paired with the Pilot Iroshizuku Shin-Kai ink and writes smoothly just about on every paper I've tried. I would recommend the fine tip for anyone who has small cramped handwriting like I do because it's more legible with this nib in my experience. I use this pen daily at work and only wish I had one of these pens in college and high school. As some of the reviews I've read mentioned, this is a great workhorse pen for daily use.
