Wonder Pens Camping Trip

We went camping together with some of the staff! So many of my favourite things joined together.
We went for a few days to the Pinery, which is a tried and true campsite for us. We went to the beach, reminisced over favourite customers, fed Sarah’s dog remnants of burnt hot dogs. There were thunderstorms and sunsets, tea by the fire, and excellent early morning coffee. The kids spent three days slowly depleting this giant bag of shrimp chips, and throwing the occasional, precious one into the fire to watch its oil flame up, a satisfying spark of magic from their well-seasoned hands.
Junia, our pre-literate (non-literate) bean, spent a lot of time convincing the larger humans around her to read her her books, or else leeching off their books. She’s really into these sticker books, and the pages of these three sentence long stories with instructions on how to apply the stickers, and man, the stress of mixing up Bluey and Bingo in the bathtub is heady.
I took a picture of me reading, but actually I didn’t get too much reading done. By the time I had finished tidying up and doing the dishes and prepping for dinner and settled myself into my creaky and precariously balanced camping chair, the gang was back from the beach, the kids with sand in every pocket of clothing. But it’s a nice thought, to read by the fire. I will take it.

So many dishes, so much fun. Can’t wait to do it again.
