TY Lee Pens

One of our first stops here in Taipei was to the famous TY Lee Pen Shop, in the Da’an District. Absolutely a must-visit if you’re in Taipei.
So many beautiful pens! So many things to look at! Beautiful displays with old vintage accessories mixed in with the new pens. I like to think our kids are trained not to mess around in other people’s shops, but there was definitely a lot of “no touching!” going on.
They carry a wide range of both Western and Asian pens in bright glass displays, and they have a basement with ink and notebooks and art supplies. This have a great selection of higher-end pens, with Graf von Faber-Castell and Caran d’Ache, Sailor and Namiki, although of course they have a selection of TWSBIs and Preras, as well.
But the best part had to be their super friendly pup. Caleb and Naomi both grew up with our family dog, Super, but Super died before Junia was born. It’s one of my life’s disappointments that Junia actually is quite nervous around dogs of all sizes and she doesn’t like them coming near or licking her, even the friendliest ones. I spend quite a bit of time at parks with her and whenever there’s a curious off-leash dog we take advantage of saying hello, but it takes her a long time to warm up to a dog. I suppose there’s only one remedy to that .
