As kids get older, theoretically they get more capable, and having not seen any evidence of this yet, we’re putting it to the test. While I would’ve preferred skills along the lines of web development or inventory management, or even house cleaning, we do what we can with what we have.

Caleb (age 10) and Naomi (age 7) are going to be offering their gift-wrapping services to help you get ready for the holidays. Bearing in mind that these two goblins have limited and yet untested stamina for gift-wrapping, please come by the shop and let us help you gift-wrap your purchases with unique and creative style. It will be mostly a variety of packing-paper-esque styles with some stationery flourishes, and also each package includes a gift tag for you to fill out.

It is pay-what-you-can and cash only, although I’m sure Jon will figure something out at the till if needed. A loose recommendation is $2.50 for small gifts and $4.00 for medium or large.

All proceeds of this gift-wrapping endeavour will go to the Toronto Humane Society, with Wonder Pens helping to top up a bit.

Date/Time: Sat Dec 21, and Sun Dec 22 from 12pm-3pm.

There will likely also be bickering and paper cuts and excessive washi tape usage and free candy, so come on by! Come into the shop and browse for gifts or browse for stationery. A little reward for making it this far, in whatever state you’re in.

We are counting down the days. We are grateful as always, to have another holiday season as a small business. Pen shops and small shops in Toronto and across the country and around the world are having various tides and seasons, and it’s always a pang to hear of a shop closing, and wondering about everything behind the painfully cheerful optimism in some of their announcements. A new adventure! Yes. But perhaps still a shame that the old adventure didn’t last as long as we might have wanted.

A grim tone! No grimness allowed this close to Christmas.

We are here, and we are grateful for it. Canada Post has returned! Velcro sneakers and Christmas presents under the tree, Junia walking around with the scanner, scanning various items into the oblivion, communicating with aliens with her own codes of numbers.

The kids are wrapping up their final days and hours and minutes of prison/school, and then we’re off to celebrations and popcorn and Christmas dresses and singing and gift-wrapping and pyjamas and cookies. Complete joy.
