Octopus Inks
Some time ago we got in several varieties of the new Octopus Ink line. I greeted them with enthusiasm! But then they sort of got stacked somewhere in the abyss of my office closet, and I forgot about them.
More recently, we got in lots of other Octopus Ink flavours, and I successfully (!) located the original bottles that I had meant to try out and now here they are.
Brown Colibri
Red Duck
Blue Koi
Petrol Axolotl
Blue Chameleon
I had to rein in my enthusiasm in inking up too many of these different colours because I am currently drowning in half-inked pens, so these are mostly swabs. I don’t know if I necessarily “thrive” in my drowning state, but I do admit there is some delirium and thrill in having so many pens around me all the time. The challenge of writing them all dry! Filling up my notebooks, sending out my snail mail, writing thank you notes, creating inventions with the kids.
And here’s a shot of my Sailor music nib. It’s been ages since I broke this one out—I’ve been digging deep into my cabinets since so many of my pens are still inked up—and I forgot how luxurious it is to write with so much tipping.

The other day I decided I really liked this pair of pants that I own. They are black and very comfortable, which is basically all I need in life. I liked them so much, and also was so over-fatigued by decision paralysis in general, having made so many bad decisions over the last decade, that I decided I would buy several more pairs of these pants and then just wear them all the times I’m not called upon to look slightly more presentable, which in my life is like 6.5 days of the week.
Then amazing news! My pants were ON SALE! A tremendous sale, Jon, I said from over my screen. How many pairs do you think I should buy? We settled on four, which I admit is a lot of pants, but they were on sale and the plan was to wear them all the time.
Turns out they were no longer in stock (great sale!) in Canada, but I could still buy them from the US. It was such an amazing sale that I convinced Jon that, despite the exchange rate, I should buy not the original four but six pairs of pants, since I would have to pay a shipping forwarding service to get them from the US to Canada, and it looked like the pants were being discontinued, and who doesn’t like abundance in on-sale-pants.
And then, alas, after having pulled the trigger on it, it turns out that this company did not have these pants in stock in one location, but in fact had to ship them each individually, six shipments, to the forwarding service, for which I would be charged six processing and shipping fees to get it to Canada.
Jon would be laughing at this situation if he wasn’t so unimpressed. And also possibly if he wasn’t getting all those email updates to his work email, since we signed up for the forwarding service ages ago under the business.
In any case, still at the library. Waiting for my pants.

Oh – The Unicorn pants.
The good news is that you’ll have MORE of your favourite black pants and you’ll teach yourself to forget the shipping misfortune. I had unicorn t-shirts and now they’re discontinued. Replaced by Very Expensive t-shirts. An extremely sad thing.

That is a scam. But still, I understand, for I have once lost my Unicorn pants and if I have the chance I would buy lots.
