New Books, New Things
We’ve been restocking books these days, and getting new ones in, along with some surprises and new things for the holidays, for gifting, for celebrating. Please come by the shop and browse the shelves. The displays are always changing as things move in and out, and there are lots of good things to come.
Often our shipments for books reflect (a little too closely) whatever season of life I’m in or whatever books lists I’m deep into, and I love it and I love books for babies and I love books in general and I can’t help myself. I have books on my list for various reasons and then they just appear in a box in the warehouse one day, like magic. All these interesting books with interesting titles and interesting covers, how does one resist? Far be it for me to calculate how many books I have left in my lifetime to read. One rabbit hole leads to another, and all of a sudden I have all these new board books for my baby who is slowly outgrowing board books, and new graphic novels for the gremlins, and all of a sudden my own reading stack is growing mountainous and there are landslides off the nightstand.
How do you raise a reader? I’m still working on that. So far my strategy has consisted of filling up the house with books, but if anyone else has any ideas, please pass them along. There’s a famous quote from a famous genius about reading your kids fairy tales if you want them to be smart, but my kids have grown up on Dogman and a pig named Mercy, so I’m not holding out hope. Or maybe just the hope that they’ll find something in a good story: if not a pig named Mercy, maybe one named Olivia. Who needs Cinderella waiting for a Prince Charming to come and save you when you can follow Sailor Moon into action?
And lots of fun book-adjacent things as well. Please browse the Just In for everything. Please let me know if you have any suggestions! These Oliver Jeffers Go Fish cards are so much fun both as a game or maybe a set will be deconstructed to make gift tags and book marks with a little punched-hole and yarn for this holiday season.

In any case, I’ve been riding the rocket (i.e. the TTC) a bunch these days, which has been an adventure, and the only way to survive any of it is with a good book in hand. Maybe a coffee, too.
