I couldn't be more excited about this!! I was almost going to put a exclamation marks in the title to share my excitement, but I had read somewhere that an exclamation mark is like laughing at your own joke, which might be a bit too intense for a title. However, I couldn't resist a few exclamation marks in the first sentence of this post, so just imagine me laughing really really hard as I'm telling you that we're going to be carrying the 2016 Hobonichi planners in the shop!
Wonder Pens wonderpens stationery shop Toronto Ontario Canada Fountain Pens
We are going to be carrying the 2016 Hobonichi Planners, as well as a few of the standard covers (black and blue-green). These Hobonichi planners have been used in Japan for years, but only recently has an English version been released because of how popular they've become. What sets these planners apart is that they use Tomoe River paper (see more photos here), so not only is the paper excellent for your fountain pens and other inky writing tools, it's also very thin and compact considering how many pages it has (400!) (Haha!). We've been asked about these quite often, and it's really just through word of mouth that people hear about and see how others are using their Hobonichis. You can search up #Hobonichi on Instagram, and you'll see thousands of examples of how people are using them as journals, art journals, visual journals and other creative ways to plan and record their lives. A lot of the examples have Japanese or Chinese characters, but there are Hobonichi users all over the world. I'm not sure exactly how I'm going to use mine yet, maybe with some watercolours or calligraphy, maybe to record some of Caleb's adventures, maybe to organize things for the shop. Who knows! But stay tuned, I'll definitely be sharing how it's all going. If you'd like to be on the notification e-mail for them (we're expecting them mid-September), please send us an email (info@wonderpens.ca). We're getting a good number, but as a dated product, of course supply is limited and it will just be this one shipment coming in. If you are outside of Canada, remember you can always email us with your address for a shipping quote. There currently aren't too many places, particularly in North America, to purchase these, so we're pretty excited to start! We won't be doing pre-orders, so the e-mail will just be a notification to let you know that they've come into stock. They will be available for purchase online and in-store. More details to come, and I'll try to do a blog post with more photos once they arrive in the shop!

Yes, I love seeing all the posts, I usually seem them on Instagram! I love seeing all the different ways people use them – a quote a day, lists, painting, drawing. I already have a Traveler’s Notebook, and so I guess I’m a little worried about how I’ll be balancing the two! :)

I may sound like I already have them, but I really havent. I may have been shamelessly stalking over bloggers that have been using Hobonichi for the past year… the shipping fee is a bit of a killer >__<;;

Wow, super stoked that you’ll be carrying these! I get mine from Japan on Sept 1st for the Japanese planners, but now I know where to send people who admire my planner! So happy for you that you’ll have these in store!

Haha, I think I held back a bit with the exclamation marks! :) We’re just carrying the English version, unfortunately the Japanese is not available outside of Japan to retailers. And unfortunately, no accessories, just a few covers, although it seems like you already have one??

Yes, the smearing! Although I’m definitely not a patient person, I’m willing to take it for the paper :)

I’ve definitely heard that people who have used the Hobonichi really love them! I think it’s the paper and the thinness of the book, so I’m glad to hear you are enjoying yours!! I can’t wait to see you in September, and I’m hoping our Hobonichis will be in by then :)

Whoa. My heart just skipped a beat and I stopped breathing for a moment. Have been using these for two years now and I LOVE IT!!!! How awesome is it that you will be carrying them?!? Sign me up for one right now so I can say goodbye to the extra exchange rate and shipping fees. (Although, as a business, I’m sure you’ll have to incorporate those into your prices too to be fair…) I’ve signed up for the calligraphy class in September, so I’ll be there…

Omg!! Best news ever. For anyone who is not familiar with this planner, treat yourself. You won’t regret it (although FP ink can smear if you are not careful…)

Hi Liz!
Personally, news as awesome as this deserves several exclamation marks!
Which size will you be carrying? Will you be just carrying the English version or will you also be carrying some of the A5 Japanese version? How about some accessories? Hobonichi is a bit awesome like Midori Travellers since it allows for some personalization! XD
