The Mitsubishi 9800 HB is a good pencil for general day to day use. (As it says on the barrel)
The core is uniform and has a tactile feel with no chipping in a long point sharpener.
It is reasonably dark for an HB, and it holds a point very well, I don't have to sharpen it as often.
The wood seems to be something like fir or poplar, soft and easy to sharpen.
The paint is a nice dark green colour and is very thick. If you like your barrels smooth, this pencil is perfect for you, personally I find it starts to get slippery faster than I like.
I think this pencil in HB is perfect for notes, math, or anything where you are writing in bursts and want the lead to stay sharper for a longer time but also want to feel the paper. It also strangely feels better on softer/cheaper paper than a 9000 or Uni-Star does.
