Clairefontaine Spiral-Bound Notebook A4 - Seyes French-Ruled

After I started improving my cursive handwriting, I found this Seyès-ruled notebook and used one for daily journalling. The special grid and traditional rules (as described in the blog post) greatly helped me to improve the consistency of my letter heights, and therefore the overall appearance of my handwriting.

Although the grid looks confusing at first, it’s very versatile. However, I haven’t used it for the many possibilities it offers (yet). My main use for it now is to recalibrate my cursive penmanship now and then, and use “normally lined” notebooks for my regular journalling, where lighter lines are more subtle.

Overall, it’s high quality paper is great for fountain pens. I’ve even managed to test myself and discovered how finely I can (eventually) write with stub nibs within this grid but for normal use and practice, fine nibs or smaller are highly recommended.

Excellent quality and price

The paper is smooth and heavy and a joy to write on with a fountain pen. I've used wet and dry writers and a thick rollerball. No show-through, so I can use both sides of the paper. Nice.

I adapted to the Seyes ruling faster than I expected, and it's helping me improve my handwriting.

Pages tear out easily, leaving the book itself neat and tidy.

The notebook seems a bit expensive, but given that one can use both sides of the paper makes the price fair to me.
