Midori MD Notebook Leather Cover - A5

A beautiful leather notebook cover made specifically for the Midori MD notebooks. The leather starts as a light tan, but will quickly develop a rich patina which will darken the leather. Followers of Midori Traveler's Notebooks are familiar with the quality put in these covers. The notebook also features 2 cardholder slots, and a built in pen loop, which can be tucked away.

Very Nice!

Picked this cover up about six months ago. Very high quality vegetable tanned leather and the workmanship is perfect. This will last a lifetime. I noticed in reviews for the A5 and A6 sizes that people have expressed concern about the leather and if it will darken over time. Vegetable tanned leather does darken over time with use and exposure to the oils in your hand and to the sun. If however you are unhappy with the speed with which it is darkening and want to help it along, pick up some Obenauf's Leather Oil (easy to find on the Internet) and give it a coat. If you want it even darker, wait a couple of weeks and give it another coat. Not only will this darken the leather but it will protect and preserve it. After one coat and lots of use, mine is a beautiful deep golden brown and the markings and character of the leather have emerged wonderfully. A real heirloom.

My mistake

The quality of this leather cover is excellent. No question about that. It would probably last my lifetime and more, but I'll try and give it away as a gift.

I'd been looking for a leather cover that would fit Clairefontaine notebook 14,8 x 21 cm and had a really hard time finding one. With this, at least the dimensions seemed to be right, and they were. The notebook fits like a hand in glove.

There's really nothing wrong with this cover -- it's just that I don't like it. I can't stand the colour, and not the touch and feel of it. I seriously doubt it will darken over time.

Buying leather products online is difficult as you can't touch them. Guess I've learnt my lesson.
