Utawa Kuniyoshi, an Ukiyo-e artist from the Edo period, painted Tominomori Sukeemon-Masakata, on of the 47 Ako-Roshi Samurai. The Ako-Roshi Samurai were the main figures in the famous Ako Incident, known as Chushingura (The Treasury of Loyal Retainers). They remain deeply embedded in Japanese culture as symbols of loyalty and bravery, and Tominomori Sukeemon-Masakata is recognized as one of them.
