Favorite Blue-Black so far

I don't know if this is officially a blue black, or just a dark blue, but it's a blue black to me. With all my pens and nibs from Fine to Stub, this is always a rich dark blue. It writes very smooth regardless of the pen it's in and never causes any hard starts for me. You never see this brand in any of the top / favorite ink videos but this brand is a go to brand for me. They've never failed to deliver on any of the inks I've used.

Tarnished Copper Encrustation

Shortly after I bought this ink that I was told that "verdigris" is the name for "the bluish-green encrustation or patina formed on copper or brass by atmospheric oxidation". Once I heard that, I realized how apt the name was for this ink.
More importantly, perhaps, is that I love this ink. I find it works particularly well in my Kaweco Student with a broad nib. It's a really nice colour and I haven't had any issues with it at all. It has a nice green tinge to it but is still dark and fairly subtle.
I recently also bought Leipzig Schwarz by R&K and am also very happy with it. I'll be checking out their other offerings as they are so reasonably priced and reliable.

Cool (as in ‘not warm’) grey-blue, maybe?

In some pens, Verdigris is more like a bluer Sailor Blue Black, Kobe #7 Kaikyo Blue or a Robert Oster Blue Night, in some others, more like a greener Robert Oster Midnight Sapphire or Sailor Bungubox 4B. For some reason—probably based on its name and some images—I was expecting it to be greener, like the patina that develops on brass and copper due to oxidation. I’m glad it’s not! It reminds me a lot of a Payne’s Grey, with a slight teal component.

Also, there is a certain redness to it I can’t quite explain into words. It does have red sheen where the ink pools in heavily saturated areas, but I haven’t observed any during normal writing, even with wet writers—except for that red component I’ve just mentioned: it looks like it wants to sheen… but can’t quite do it.

It feathers slightly on cheaper paper, and because it’s highly saturated, it tends to have bleedthrough on them. On better quality paper, I’ve seen no feathering, no bleedthrough, just some ghosting on thinner papers. Shading is medium and occurs mainly at the end of a word written in cursive, and on all the “t”s—well, letters with an up- and down-stroke within the same letter.

I much prefer this colour to the green-leaning blue-blacks out there, because Verdigris is still a blue to my eye; maybe the slight green component in the ink gets cancelled out by the red one in it. Green and red are complementary colours after all!

The best $14 you’ll ever spend

This ink is incredibly pretty, well-behaved, and such a good value! On Tomoe River paper, there’s a lot more green-teal tone than I see in the swab on the website, and incredible red sheen! It hits the sweet spot in amount of shading for me- enough to add character, not so much that it’s distracting or less legible. While I usually change inks every time I empty a pen, I have re-filled my pen with this three times so far, and it really feels like it might be a permanent favourite. The bonus is that it manages to be as functional as it is pretty. My partner uses it at work now because it doesn’t feather or bleed too much on even the worst paper! This is the only ink I own that I never want to run out of.

Wonderful Ink for Lefties

A beautiful shade of blue and dries wonderfully.
Was a little nervous about it prior, but no problems :)
Possibly my new favourite ink.
