Diamine Fountain Pen Ink (80mL) - Rustic Brown

I love red-browns! Especially Rustic Brown! It is browner than both Sailor Bungubox Piano Mahogany and Kobe #27 Kounan Maroon.

It’s a saturated colour that offers shading in the right pen and paper combo. I’ve found the flow to be excellent out of all my nibs, even out of my dry Sailor 1911S 21 kt H-M, which plays nicely with few inks. It coats the nibs well and doesn’t feel watery under the tipping, despite it being free-flowing.

The ink dries slowly but to a bright finish that stays true to colour. I’ve had no skipping, no hard starts, no nib dryout, no feathering and no bleedthrough; just some slight ghosting in the usual thinner papers. I’ve seen no sheen, just a dark outline on the edge of where the ink pools in heavily saturated areas. It is readable in all nib sizes, and I enjoy using it with my 1911L H-MF on white paper: it makes taking notes and going over them fun!

I’m glad I tried a sample; Rustic Brown goes on my wish list!
