Midori MD Notebook A6 - Lined

MD PAPER is used not only for the main text but also for the cover and endpapers. It features a pure finish without wrapping. The binding uses a "Thread Binding" method that is easy to open and durable. The notebook opens 180 degrees flat, allowing for stress-free writing from the first page to the last.

The color of the spine (bookmark string) varies depending on the type of notebook, adding a subtle playfulness to the minimalist design.

The MD Notebook is wrapped in glassine paper, reminiscent of old paperback books. It also serves to prevent dirt. You can use it as is, or remove it and leave it in its pristine state. You can use it in any style you like.

It comes with index stickers that match the plain cover, which is simply fastened with cheesecloth.

176 Pages.
Dimensions: 4" x 6".

Great Aesthetic, Poor Performance

Aesthetically, this notebook is gorgeous. When I got it, I marveled at it. It's delicate, minimalist, & elegant. The production choices are unique--especially dust jacket & binding. It also opens flat.

However, the deal-breaker is the performance of inks on this paper. I did have success with a few ink/pen combos, but so many felt scratchy & skipped constantly, even when they felt smooth in a TN, Rhodia, & Leuchtturm. Sometimes it even felt like the ink was running out until I switched to a different paper & found out it was fine.

Good performers:
TWSBI ECO B w/J Herbin
Pilot Metro M w/any Iroshizuku

Poor performers:
TWSBI ECO B w/Sailor
LAMY Al-Star 1.1mm w/J Herbin
Pilot Metro M w/Diamine
w/J Herbin

If you're interested in the design & are flexible with ink choice, you could simply find a combo that works well. I suspect that B nibs with wet ink do alright.

But if you rotate through many inks or want to use a notebook for samples, I cannot recommend this one.
