Kaweco Student - Broad Nib

I have a few fountain pens but this was my first Kaweco. I love Lamy so I thought I'd try this brand - they are reasonably priced and get good reviews overall. I bought this one and fell in love with it the first time I used it. I normally use Medium nibs (with Lamy I've bought left handed nibs because we lefties usually have to conform to a right handed world) but the medium wasn't in stock and I took it as an opportunity to try something completely new. If you like a rich, thick line then this is the nib (and pen for you).
The body of the pen is solid and feels great in the hand. I actually didn't have a black fountain pen so this is a welcome addition to my growing collection. I have arthritis so comfort is a consideration and the weight and feel of this pen works great for me.
Of course now I want it in other colours! I'm particularly eyeing the yellow. I see many more Kaweco pens in my future!

Kaweco Student, black, with 1.1 stub nib

This sleeper is a very high quality German engineered product. The plastic is very hard, polished, and of highest quality. The section is chromed brass, which concentrates the weight of the pen towards the nib, and the meaty heft of the pen is perfect for comfortable, effortless writing, but not heavy enough to tire my (large) hand, either posted or un-posted. Because high precision cutting of the section/barrel threads, it was difficult to unscrew the barrel to ink the pen the first time. If you can't get it open, wrap some rubber bands around it to get a better grip. The pen is quietly beautiful to look at. The 1.1 stub nib is exquisite, reflecting the same high precision and quality seen in the rest of the pen. I've tried it with 5 different inks and it is buttery smooth and as perfect a nib as I have ever used with all of them. I consider this to be the best fountain pen that I own (of 15), and the best value for the money. Highly recommended.
