My favourite pen so far!

I personally love the long slender shape. The tactile sensation of the pearwood grip is very pleasant. I loaded it up with a piano mahogany ink and it glides across the page!

Good to look at, poor in performance

I purchased this pen with a broad nib on it and I have to say I started with high expectations. At first, writing was fine, I soon became accustomed to having a broad tip (I have been firmly in the medium nib camp for years). Unfortunately, as I have used the pen over the past 3 months I found myself drifting back to other pen manufacturers. Soon I could barley stand to use this pen until now when I have retired it back onto my display shelf. The real problem I have found with it is the supply. I primarily use pens to sign documents (hundreds sometimes a week) and as I used this it had a near constant ink supply issue. It would run thin on ink mid signature making the signature look unprofessional. Another problem I found was indexing during rapid writing which was exasperated the weight of the cap.

In total, If you are a pen collector and want a show piece this is an excellent choice but if you are a pen user, and a heavy user like me, look elsewhere.

Design and writing experience

I'm very pleased with my initial impressions of the Ambition. The build quality of the pen is superb, the design is intelligent and aesthetically pleasing, and the nib is a delight to write with. The EF is a genuine extra-fine, and writes with the right combination of flow and smoothness, and with a slight measure of feedback that provides for writing feel. With its brass barrel core to support the wood casing, the pen is solidly weighted and nicely balanced when posted (which I always prefer).

The Ambition is beautiful to look at, finely built, and luxurious to write with. I rate it already over many pens (European, North American and Japanese) selling it for twice the price.

BTW, it wrote well but slightly drily out of the box, and with the slightest of nib adjustments provides the wet, smooth line that I look for but is not always easily found with EF nibs.
