Every autumn the oak tree that looms over our house bombards us with acorns.
"Bang!" and "Rumble!" they go. I am sure that late at night, when they wake me, it is intentional.
So why would I want a small metal box with an acorn on the cover?
Impulse purchase.
But unlike my oak tree's output, which serves only to attract the deer, this thing is actually useful. On a recent trip I realized that I could pack my ink cartridges in there, and not worry that they would be squished. I could also add an eraser, some pencil leads, and other small things.
Better yet, it passed through airport security without me being pulled aside for secondary dissection, public disrobing, and additional probing.
In short, it has been surprisingly useful.
