Substantial, well-balanced, and solidly made. I originally bought this only because I am a bit fannish about Blackwing pencils; I was not expecting the significant difference between using a pencil extender and clutching at a pencil stub, trying to get every last bit of use from it. The whole pencil gets used and my hand is a lot happier, so it's all good!
Full disclosure: I didn't buy my Blackwing Pencil Extender from Wonder Pens (it was out of stock when I tried to purchase one), so I found it at another retailer. The challenge with Blackwings is their distinctive ferrule, which makes most pencil extenders impractical (without yanking off the ferrule). Palomino's extender is a smart solution to this problem, inserting into the ferrule. I recently used it to get every last millimetre out of a Blackwing Matte, so it definitely does what it's supposed to. It also has a nice solid-metal feel. I find that it is a bit wobbly, though I also don't see much of a way around this, based on how it fastens in. The only other option I'm aware of is from a small Japanese company called Yarn. Their solution is to sort of go around the ferrule. It's pretty expensive, and not available anywhere here in Canada, as far as I can tell. However, if Jon and Liz ever imported it, they'd have one customer lined up, at any rate.
Exactly what I needed to get the most use out of these premium pencils.
