We recently released a fun new ink accessory: a custom 3D-printed vial holder, that also stores vials on the underside for transport or tucking away in a drawer or case. The rubber band is included.

The stand helps for when you are drawing ink out of the vial to fill a pen, or even to mix your own colours. It can sit on your desk with the colours you have at hand for swabbing, or for using with watercolours and dip pen or brush pen writing.

If you’re a serial ink sampler, consider bringing this to your next pen friend meet up, to swatch and try out each other’s samples.

It’s been a long time since we first started making and carrying samples—years and years. Maybe ten. Eleven? It has never been a super profitable part of the business, mainly because there are all these finicky little costs to it that add up (the cost of the vial and lid, the cost of the labels which have to be sticky enough to stick to the plastic without curling and peeling of, the cost of the time to make the sample, to print the labels, to organize the inventory as we order ink and make samples).

But it’s a fun part of the shop! Because you get to test out different inks, for a special season or project, or on the hunt for something specific. Or maybe even try out a mystery ink sample pack, for when you’re ready for an adventure.
