Pelikan M600 Art Series Georg Tippel

I have completely fallen in love with the newest Pelikan M600 Art Series Georg Tippel. Completely head over heels. I would say that I haven’t gotten a new pen in a long time, however, I also really liked the recent Neon Safari with the translucent grip, which I did indeed without a second thought take into my collection.
But this! This Pelikan is love on a deeper level. Is this the one? Maybe! I sometimes contemplate what will happen if the business goes under, and I have to auction off all my pens for bankruptcy: which ones would I try and hide under the floorboards to escape the fire sale?
I have a number of M400s, which is a slightly smaller sized Pelikan. I’ve always liked smaller pens and the M400 has a number of fun editions, but I recently, over the last couple of years, have been converted to the M600, slightly larger. Both of these pen models are still fairly lightweight and both use the standard plastic piston on the inside.
It’s normally M800s that feature the brass Pelikan piston mechanism, which adds a noticeable heft, but an interesting note about these Art Series M600s, including this Georg Tippel one, is that they have the brass piston. The added weight feels great in the hand, a terrific balance of being substantial and comfortable. How satisfying!
This Georg Tippel M600 is also gorgeous, the finish is stunning. I love the colours and shapes of the design, as well as the guilloché finish of the barrel, and the translucent cap! It is all perfect: my favourite colour palette of gold and brown and autumn.
It took me three days to finally work up the courage to ink it up, which I did with Diamine Ochre. I have yet to unpack all my boxes of stationery, but I scrounged around and this one seemed like a good match. It is a lovely and responsive nib, wet and inky.

In any case, I have raved on about this pen enough. I was mentioning last week’s newsletter that it was sitting on my desk for some time but I hadn’t gotten around to photographing it, and when I did I immediately called Jon and demanded to know why he hadn’t told me about this magnificent pen the moment it arrived in the shop. Elaine, on the team, also seemed to be in the know particularly early as she specifically asked Jon to order her an EF. I seem to not know what’s going on at all, which comes as a surprise to no one, particularly Jon.
What a beauty. A remarkable treasure for me.
