Price Increases - Noodler's & Platinum
Earlier this year, we increased prices on a number of products that we import from the US. I knew that Noodler's & Platinum price increases would most likely be coming, but we held off because we weren't ordering yet, and it was too painful to think about. More bandaids are coming off... The exchange rate has steadily worsened (for us Canadians!), with the warm weather, we're now beginning to bring in some of our favourite Noodler's and Platinum inks and pens, and so I'm afraid we're going to have to increase prices. Noodler's Ink 3 oz Bottles - from 13.75 to 15.25 Noodler's Ahab/Konrad Flex Pens - from 21.50 to 25 Noodler's Nib Creaper Flex Pen - from 15.25 to 17.50 Platinum Preppy - from 3.95 to 4.90 Platinum 2-pack Cartridges - from 3.00 to 4.00 Platinum 10-pack Cartridges - from 7.00 to 8.75 Platinum Converter - from 7.50 to 9.25 Platinum Plaisir - from 22.00 to 24.75 Platinum Cool - from 44.50 to 53.00 Platinum Carbon Ink - from 20.00 to 25.00 Some of these new prices may seem like a bigger jump than others, and that's because we didn't raise some of those prices when the exchange rate first started looking a little wobbly - for example, Platinum Carbon Ink is currently selling from American retailers at around $20-$25 USD right now, and we're currently selling for $20 CAD. Preppy Pens usually sell for around $3.95 USD, and we're selling for $3.95 CAD. (That would make it an amazing deal, so stock up while you can!) I often hear from that it seems like Canadian retailers sometimes charge what seem to be unfair mark-ups on products to increase margins. I know price increases are not popular, but if you've purchased from the US recently, you know what we're talking about when we say that the price you see on the website is not the same on your credit card bill (in Canadian dollars). Please know that we are trying our best! Canadian retailers pay extra costs for international shipping, duties, processing fees through customs, along with fees for exchanging rates. Our new Noodler's and Platinum prices are based on the differences in exchange rate only, so we are trying to absorb some of the extra cost of being an international retailer, as opposed to our friends in the South. These new prices will take place on Thursday, April 9th, 2015. We should have most of this stuff in stock, but if we don't, I'm afraid we can't hold prices. If you're looking to come pick up a few items in store after the price increase, you can still purchase online and hold as an in-store pick up for whenever your'e in the neighbourhood.
